How it works
The code contains an official click-to-chat link in the form https://wa.me/15551234567?text=Hello. WhatsApp documents this format publicly and it works on iPhone, Android and WhatsApp Web. If the scanner doesn't have WhatsApp installed, the link opens a page offering to download it.
Enter the full number with country code, digits only. Leading zeros from your local format are dropped, so 07700 900123 in the UK becomes 447700900123.
Messages that start useful conversations
A pre-filled message tells you where the customer came from and what they want, which saves a round of back-and-forth. Try including context from where the code is printed:
- "Hi, I'd like to order from the menu at table 4."
- "Hello, I saw your flyer and want a quote for window cleaning."
- "I'm interested in the apartment on Oak Street."

Business accounts and privacy
The code works the same for personal and WhatsApp Business numbers. Remember that anyone who scans it sees your phone number once the chat opens. If you'd rather not expose a personal number, use a WhatsApp Business account on a separate line. Nothing about the code passes through QRNever; it's drawn in your browser and points directly at WhatsApp.
